My wife has been feeling ill this week. She called me when I was at work on Monday and insisted that I come home and take her to the hospital. So I dutifully left work early and came home. On my way home, she called her doctor, and the doctor told her not to go to the hospital. Instead, she should wait till that evening and come see him at his office.

So I sat at home for two hours waiting until it was time to take her to the doctor. He gave her a prescription and sent her home.

The next day, I went to work with 5 hours that I needed to make up from the previous day. I was at work for about 3 hours when my wife started calling me. She had called the doctor again because she was in pain and he called another prescription into the pharmacy for her. She needed money to go get the prescription, but I reminded her that she had already stolen all of our emergency money the other day to go shopping and now there was no money left in the house.

She became very angry with me, and wanted me to drive home to get her the medicine. That just wasn't an option. I was already way behind at work from coming home for her the previous day. I told her that there was no way that I could do it. She got very angry with me. Then she started calling me every 5 minutes (literally) at work asking me to get the medicine. It got to the point where I just didn't answer the phone any more.

I eventually called my dad and asked him to go pick up the medicine for her. It turns out that the doctor had written her a prescription for medicine she already had. He could have just told her to take it.

When I got home, I found that my office had been trashed. Papers had been thrown everywhere. Several computer parts had been riped out of their wires and were laying on the floor. Everything was just trashed.

I asked my wife what had happened. She told me that she was angry with me, so she trashed my room. I told her that now I was very angry with her, and asked her if it would be ok for me to trash something of hers. She told me that I was an asshole for what I did and that I had no right being angry with her for anything. She told me that I "deserved" what she did to me.

Goodbye emergency money.

Today, my wife broke into the firesafe that we have. She took what little amount of emergency cash that we had saved up and went out and spent it on herself.

She claims it was retribution for not telling her that the money was in there in the first place. Which is ironic, considering that she gets angry four or five times a year for me not telling her that it's in there. I guess I just assumed she would remember from the last argument. Apparently not.

The issue is moot now. The money is gone.
